The commission charged on Alpari accounts depends on the traded instrument and is calculated using different formulas for MT4 and MT5 platforms.
Commission Calculation for Pro ECN MT4
For Pro ECN MT4, the commission is charged in full at the time of opening the trade:
Formula = (Contract Size × Exchange Rate of Base Currency to USD / 1,000,000) × 25 USD × 2
Example Calculation:
- Instrument (currency pair): EURUSD
- Trade Volume: 1 lot
- Contract Size: 100,000 EUR
- EURUSD Exchange Rate at Opening: 1.33470
Commission = (100,000 × 1.33470 / 1,000,000) × 25 USD × 2 = 6.67 USD
Commission Calculation for Pro ECN MT5
Formula = (Opening Price x Lots (Volume) x Contract Size) x 25/1,000,000 + (Closing Price x Lots (Volume) x Contract Size) x 25 /1,000,000
Commission = EURUSD (1.0846 (opening price) × 1 (lot) × commission 0.0025%) = $2.71 + Closing EURUSD (1.0246 (closing price) × 1 (lot) × commission 0.0025%) = $2.56 = Total Commission $5.27
Attention!
- Pro ECN MT4 accounts charge commission at double the rate at the time of opening a trade, simultaneously for opening and closing a position.
- Pro ECN MT5 accounts charge commission separately at opening and closing positions and deduct it from the trading account balance.
- The value of 25 USD is calculated based on the nominal value of the position, which is 1,000,000 USD. For CFDs on cryptocurrencies, a similar commission is 0.03% of the transaction volume in the base currency.
- If your account currency is EUR, the commission amount will be converted to USD according to the current exchange rates in the MetaTrader platform.
- The commission for the SPX500 instrument is 25 USD, based on the nominal value of the position, which is 100,000 USD.
