Futures CFDs allow you to trade based on futures contracts without owning the underlying asset. Each contract has an expiration date, which you need to keep track of. Below is a quick guide to trading Futures CFDs and checking the contract expiry on MetaTrader.
Trading Futures CFDs on MetaTrader
- Open MetaTrader and log in
- Go to Market Watch (Ctrl+M), right-click, select "Symbols", and find the Futures CFD you want to trade. Click "Show".
- Right-click the Futures CFD in Market Watch and select "New Order".
- Set your volume, and choose to Buy or Sell.
- Monitor and close your position before the contract’s expiration or let it close automatically at expiry.

Checking Expiry Dates
To check when a Futures CFD expires, right-click on the instrument in Market Watch and select the contract specifications. The expiration date will be listed, letting you know when the contract will settle.
